Sign Warns Zombies are Coming, Several Car Windows Smashed! Thank God Salem police take zombie as a real threat. We call all sleep well tonight.

 

"The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police log from Thursday afternoon through Sunday. Police responded to several reports of cars found with their back windows smashed. On Friday morning, police found a sign warning them of zombies.

  • At 5:39 p.m. Thursday, police helped two drivers exchange papers after a motor vehicle accident on Boston Street.
  • At 12:57 a.m. Friday, police received a call about a man screaming in a vehicle on Boston Street. When police arrived, the man told them he was on his cell phone talking to his friend.
  • At 1:13 a.m. Friday, police went to Washington Street where there was a report of a loud group on the corner. The group was gone when police arrived.
  • At 1:53 a.m. Friday, an officer on patrol found a group of males using a wire to try to gain access through a window. The person told the officer he locked his keys inside the car. The man was the owner of the vehicle.
  • A man was placed in protective custody after banging on a door on Burnside Street at 3:30 a.m. Friday.
  • At 4:40 a.m. Friday, an officer on patrol observed a city-owned electronic mobile sign on Canal Street near Broadway read: "Go Vikings!" "The End Is Near!" "Zombies Ahead, Run!" "Turn Back Now" and "You Just Lost The Game." Police noted in the log, "a quick check of the area showed no signs of zombie infestation." The message board had been reprogramed overnight by an unknown person. DPW was contacted to reprogram the sign.
  • At 7:33 a.m. Friday, a motor vehicle accident on the Bridge Street bypass road sent one person to the hospital. Both cars were towed from the scene.
  • At 8:30 a.m. Friday, police responded to a Highland Avenue parking lot for a report of a fist fight. No one was there when police arrived."
