Variety reports that Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is in talks to direct Bioshock now that Gore Verbinski has left the director's chair. Verbinski left once it was clear that the film was going to be shot overseas to take advantage of tax credits. Verbinski will still produce.
Fresnadillo directed 28 Weeks Later, the kick ass sequel to Danny Boyle's 28 Days Later, which likely brought him to the attention of Universal Pictures. Also, he's a Spaniard that likely has no problem with overseas shooting. Final approval of Fresnadillo is in the hands of Take Two Interactive, the studio that made the popular game which had no zombies but was fun to play nevertheless.
