Director Jonathan Levine's cast for the upcoming zombie romance Warm Bodies just got serious.
Variety reports that John Malkovich is in final negotiations to join the movie, which is based on Isaac Marion's book about a existentially tormented zombie named R (Nicholas Hoult) who falls for the girlfriend (Teresa Palmer) of one of his victims. Rob Corddry recently joined the cast as M, a zombie friend of R's who is also starting to change.
Malkovich will play General Grigio, the father of Palmer and a serious hater of all things zombie. Could be another iconic villain role for Malkovich, whose last turn as adversary was in the sorry Jonah Hex, which not even the guy cleaning the theater bothered to watch. Getting him for a zombie movie is a real coup - though, again, he was in Jonah Hex, so...
Production is supposed to start this month.
