Lily Collins Cast in EVIL DEAD Remake

With so much progress moving forward with the remake of Evil Dead, including a release date, a March production start in New Zealand and Sony Pictures ready to distribute, you could feel it coming in the air that a casting decision was on its way.

However, the first casting decision really seems to be against all odds, as Bloody-Disgusting reports that Lily Collins (Abduction, the upcoming Mirror Mirror), is in final negotiations to play Mia, the lead role and essentially the new version of the "Ash" character played by Bruce Campbell in the 1981 original and the subsequent sequels. But to take the two roles on face value wouldn't do justice to the changes director Fede Alvarez, co-screenwriter Rodo Sayagues and script re-writer Diablo Cody have made to the remake.

In Evil Dead, five friends are looking to spend one more night in a remote cabin where they find the infamous Book of the Dead. Mia is looking to detox from her drug problems after the death of her mama. Problems arise when Mia doesn't take well to her new sobriety and no one believes her when she realizes that evil spirits are starting to attack them and she cries, "take, take me home!" Sounds like fun, no jacket required!

Another fun fact about Collins is that she is the daughter of musician Phil Collins from Genesis! Who knew?
