Movie Rights Already Sold for Video Game DEAD ISLAND

Sometimes it's good to take your time.

After announcing the game in 2007, video game developer Techland finally released an awesome new trailer for their yet-to-be-released zombie game Dead Island, which we said was worthy of a feature-length adaptation way back in 2009. So, we were ahead of our time.

HitFix reports that longtime movie producer Sean Daniel, who has produced movies like Dazed and Confused, Tombstone, and The Mummy, has bought the movie rights to the game, after only two days of the trailer's release. That's crazy.

What is also crazy is how good the trailer is, and the hope has to be for the movie version to be half as good as the trailer. However, the story of the game is totally ripe for a movie (as we thought so many years ago): an island resort in Papa New Guinea, besieged by a zombie outbreak forcing the vacationing residents have to find a way off the island.

Daniel has yet to do anything more than purchase the rights, so stick with HugAZombie.com to learn more about the project as it develops.
