Thanks to The Wrap, an email has been intercepted from Paramount regarding their upcoming slate of movies, which includes an adaptation of Max Brooks' bestselling novel World War Z and Dead Snow director Tommy Wrikola's Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. The news is brief, so here goes.
HANSEL & GRETEL: This will go later this year - beginning casting conversations. Tommy Wirkola to direct.
WORLD WAR Z: They love the new Matt Carnahan draft and it looks like this is coming together. Brad Pitt to star, Marc Forster to direct.
Hansel & Gretel looks like it will happen before Wirkola's Dead Snow 2, which he told ShockTillYouDrop would be shot at the end of this year in 3-D. Wirkola says the Dead Snow 2 plot involves "the Nazis not going back to the mountain but deciding to start invading the north of Norway."
Hansel & Gretel was announced last November and is losing its Witch Hunters tag, but should be the fun horror-action-comedy it was reported to be.
As for World War Z, it's good to know that things are looking good. Maybe Paramount will actually make it now that Pitt is on board. His production company, Plan B, has a good track record for getting the movies made, so we'll see. The Wrap does warn that a Paramount rep contacted the site to say that the leaked email "has some correct information and some inaccurate information." With tons of movies on the email, we'll just assume that the above info is correct.
