Resident Evil fans, get this through your head: Resident Evil 5 producer Jun Takeuchi wants fuck all to do with Resident Evil 6.
This may seem trivial to some, but Takeuchi has been with the franchise for a long time. A very long time. Like, the beginning. As in, he's been with the franchise from the beginning. Not anymore. Takeuchi announced to XBOX Magazine last month that he was done.
"Personally, I don't think I'm gonna deal with Resident Evil 6 at all," said Takeuchi. "As far as the series is concerned I'm not planning to return until at least two more Olympics have passed!"
That's a long time, unless he means any Olympics, in which case he'd be back by 2014. If he means 2 "summer Olympics," then it's going to be a while until Takeuchi returns.
Takeuchi wasn't done announcing he was out. In a recent interview he added: ""I'm not involved in Resident Evil 6. There's actually a number of things I want to do."
One of those has to be working on game without Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami hovering over his shoulder. For our part, if Takeuchi's exit means that the next Resident Evil game won't repeat the same shitty control scheme from Resident Evil 4, then we're down, but that was probably Mikami's decision.
