Variety reports that Shiloh Fernandez (Red Riding Hood) has grabbed the male lead in the upcoming remake of Evil Dead just over a week after Lily Collins (Priest) was reportedly too busy to appear in the movie. Pretty sure they weren't up for the same role.
In fact, Moviehole, who have an inside source on the remake, report that Fernandez will play David, the brother of Mia, the drug-addicted lead role that Collins was going to play until she realized she was too busy working on crap like the upcoming Mirror, Mirror.
Fede Alvarez will direct from a script he co-wrote with Rodo Sayagues that was re-written by Diablo Cody (Juno). Alvarez has also Tweeted the first set pic of the movie.
Evil Dead will open on April 12, 2013. Sam Raimi, Robert Tapert and Bruce Campbell will produce.
