Variety reports that Analeigh Tipton (America's Next Top Model), Dave Franco (Charlie St. Cloud) and Cory Hardrict (Return of the Living Dead: Necropolis) are all lining up for writer-director Jonathan Levine's adaptation of Warm Bodies.
Based on the book by Isaac Marion, Warm Bodies follows a zombie named R (Nicholas Hoult), who befriends the girlfriend (Teresa Palmer) of one of his victims and protects her from the zombie hordes. Tipton will play Palmer's best friend, while Hardrict (a real zombie vet after being in two Return of the Living Deads: Necropolis and Rave to the Grave) will play the right-hand man to John Malkovich, who has been cast as Palmer's father and a General convinced that all zombies must be destroyed. Malkovich's character has been called the villain, but, really, he's a General, they're at war with zombies...a villain? Let's just say he'll be the toughest to convince that R is a "good" zombie.
Franco, meanwhile, has been cast as "the leader of the human resistance" which means, to us, that he's likely playing Palmer's boyfriend, the one that R devours. In the draft we read, the character comes back often in flashbacks.
Production should begin this month. Rob Corddry (Children's Hospital) co-stars as M, R's zombie friend.
