Paramount has been doing some schedule juggling and one of its moves was to push World War Z to 2013. Originally scheduled for December 21st, the adaptation of Max Brooks' best-selling novel will now open on June 21, 2013.
Whenever a movie gets pushed back, its usually a bad sign, but this is actually a good thing. As The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo recently proved, audiences don't go for dark at Christmas and with several major releases opening that month, including The Hobbit, This is Forty and Django Unchained, a move was neccesary.
Of course, World War Z won't be alone on its new release date. Pixar will be opening its Monsters University sequel on the same day, while Man of Steel will open the week before. Also a positive sign is that the studio thinks the movie can open well in the middle of summer. having Brad Pitt as the lead doesn't hurt. [Box Office Mojo]
