When Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer said in July that he didn't expect Zombieland 2 "anytime soon", he really meant it. Instead, a TV series is more likely.
Vulture reports that talks are "well under way" with Fox Broadcasting and Columbia's sister unit, Sony Pictures Television, to bring a half-hour version of Zombieland to the small screen with original writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick in tow.
This is probably the best-case scenario for Zombieland, which, realistically, won't get a sequel anytime soon with the way the cast, director, and writers continue to be overloaded with work. Reese and Wernick were recently hired to write a Micronauts movie after penning G.I. Joe 2 for Paramount and Hasbro.
For those hoping the original cast would take part in the show, think again. However, it's also possible that a new cast of characters is brought in rather than re-casting the main characters from the movie. I vote for the latter.
