Dead Island got our attention last year as a game that had seemingly everything: you crash onto an island that's overrun with zombies so grab anything you can get your hands on to destroy them. Like Far Cry mixed with Dead Rising. Amazing, right? Then, NOTHING. No news. The game seemed to disappear. The website for the game remained (and remains) unchanged.
G4TV spoke with international brand manager Blazej Krakowiak from developer Techland who finally gave an update about the game:
I can understand how impatient our fans must be to see more news and assets from Dead Island. Unfortunately our agreement with the game’s worldwide publisher imposed a media silence on us. All we are allowed to say is that the game is in development and doing great and that all future updates regarding the game will come directly from the publisher. I know it’s not much at the moment. We’re really excited with what we’ll be able to share with fans but for the moment our hands are tied.
Dead Island didn't have a publisher before, so that's new, but this isn't: Techland has developed a layered skin system that allows the player to slash at zombie skin in what seems like the most disgustingly awesome thing I have heard of. Don't take my word for it, watch a video about it below:
Still no word on when players can beat the hell out of a zombie's face. But you can learn even more about the game's versatility, such as your weapons, the other factions on the island that you can join or not join, all explained by a Blonde European man, so break out your eye glasses.
