Was there ever really a question that this would happen?
For the past few months, there's been plenty of "is Capcom going to make Resident Evil 6 rumors" spreading through the Internet as various designers and programmers started putting the title onto their resumes and CVs. Mostly, I ignored posting any of this news for two simple reasons: 1, I didn't have a lot of time, and 2, after Resident Evil 5 sold a gajillion copies, did anyone think that Capcom wouldn't make a sixth?
Well, now Capcom has made it official, releasing a trailer for the game and announcing a release date of November 20th. Get excited, because this time Chris Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy are fighting side-by-side. Capcom is giving itself a high-five for that pairing (Sorry, Sheva and Claire). Also, it looks awesome, combining a little of Operation Raccoon City with Resident Evil 5 and adding a dash of Rainbow 6 action.
It has been ten years since the Raccoon City incident and the President of the United States has decided to reveal the truth behind what took place in the belief that it will curb the current resurgence in bioterrorist activity. Due to be by the President’s side is his personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Kennedy, but when the venue suffers a bioterrorist attack, Leon is forced to face a President transformed beyond recognition and make his hardest ever decision. At the same time, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China, itself under threat of a bioterrorist attack. With no country safe from these attacks and the ensuing outbreaks, the entire world’s population is united by a common fear that there is no hope left.
