Finally!
Capcom recently confirmed they have another Resident Evil game in the works, titled Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. How do we know? There's a trailer!
According to NowGamer, Capcom has shifted their popular games to Western developers, putting Operation Raccoon City into the hands of SOCOM developer Slant Six. Guess that's why it looks so much like a SOCOM game, and one I would actually like to play. Capcom is also planning HD remakes of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil: Code: Veronica.
We've always been critical of Resident Evil 5 (since the demo, in fact) and it's lousy control scheme that essentially was a holdover from Resident Evil 4. While that clearly had no influence on the game's huge success, it felt to me like Capcom wasn't interested in doing much more than they had achieved with RE:4 besides adding co-op gameplay. Say what you will about Operation Raccoon City, but at least it's moving a new direction. Well, for Resident Evil, anyway. Then again, some fans just want to keep things as they are, creating an online petition for another Resident Evil: Outbreak.
