According to director Ruben Fleischer, Zombieland 2 is coming to theaters in 2012. In a recent interview, Fleischer gave an update on the 3-D sequel.
"We're in the writing process and it’s a thing all of the cast is excited to do. As soon as we get the story together we're going to go make it," said Fleischer. "It's going to be in 3D and hopefully we'll be shooting as soon as possible."
And how will 3-D enhance the sequel? Fleischer explains: "Well if you just think about the first movie there’s some amazing shots that would look even better in 3D. With the woman flying through the windshield or the zombies getting smashed by that giant ride. There’s already tons of cool things in there that would have been great in 3D. You can only imagine how cool those shots could be."
It's true. Until we see the sequel, we can only imagine it. So what about that title? Will we see Zombieland 2 in 2012? When asked if the sequel will arrive "in 2011 or 2012," Fleischer said: "Yeah."
Ok, not much of a confirmation, but it'll do for now. All Fleischer needs is a script, but with Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick writing both a sequel to G.I. Joe and the Deadpool movie, 2012 seems more likely.
